Our attachment viewer has proven to be a very popular tool for JDE users. This helpful web app provides a dynamic previewing function for media objects across all JDE applications. What’s New for ACBM’s Media Object Manager?
We’ve added new functionality to make this an even more intuitive and feature-rich experience for users.
More Ways to Interact with Objects
In addition to viewing media objects, you can now add, edit, download, and delete them. For example, you can click the “Add Text Attachment” (first icon) to add a text attachment and save it.
You can also edit and even format the text for font, color, and other characteristics using a simple menu like you would in a typical word processing application.
If you need to upload a new file such as a jpeg or pdf, click on the “Add File Attachment” (second icon). Choose the file you want, and click upload. Click “Remove Attachment” (last icon) if you no longer want the object to be attached.
Users can also download a PDF or any other file by clicking “Download Attachment” (third icon). You can then send it out in an email, move it somewhere else, or complete other actions in your workflow. Using the PDF viewer on the local machine, you can even print a document directly from the Media Objects Manager.
How Did We Make This App Dynamic?
Our Media Object Manager is a standalone web app. To make it dynamic, we used Composite Application Framework (CafeOne) from Oracle. This user interface framework enables users to work with content from multiple sources within a single browser window. To learn more, see Oracle’s resources here.
To start using this framework, we have the URL to the application and then click on the “dynamic link” and map the different keys. In this example, the first field is mapped to PO number, the second to order type, and the third to company number. Once we save this, as we switch between rows it takes those three fields and passes them dynamically as parameters into the URL.
How Dynamic Loading for Objects Helps You
When you select a row from a list of POs in JDE, the media object manager automatically populates on the right of the screen with a drop-down list showing all the related attachments and loading/displaying the first one.
As you switch rows, the media object manager dynamically refreshes to show the attachments for that newly selected row. Whenever you add more objects/attachments, CafeOne knows to associate it with the currently highlighted row.
